1

Start with a circle for the center section of the flower like so.

2

With a real patient stroke, begin sketching out each individual pedal which are in the form of spear heads. Sketch in the dimple at the base of the pedals like you see here, and then move to step three.

3

Sketch out the other side of petals like so, and notice when you are done the sunflower looks like an actual sun.

4

Sunflowers have many petals and some of them can only be seen as they are hidden behind the larger petals like so.

5

Now you are ready to draw out the large leaves under the bloom, as well as the leaves on the secondary stems. Draw out the thick main stem or stalk, and then you can clean up your drawing.

6

Here is what the flower looks like when you are all done. Now you can enjoy yourself as you color it in. I hope you liked this tutorial on how to draw a sunflower.

Description: Before I get to the fun lessons that are coming your way pretty soon, I want to quickly submit this tutorial on "how to draw a sunflower", step by step. Sunflowers are very large and beautiful plants that are also responsible for producing sunflower seeds. They have rather large inner circles that are a dark brown in color and along with the center of the sunflower, which is where the seeds are harvested from. The petals are also very big, bright, and very yellow. My grandmother used to grow sunflower plants every summer along the front of her house which was right where the kitchen window was located. I have always been a fan of this flower species, and because it is such a popular bloom, I think you will find that drawing a sunflower is going to be surprisingly fun. I will be back with two ‘for kids’ lessons, and two more figures from a brand new cartoon that will be airing on Cartoon Network. Adios people, and enjoy the rest of your drawing day!
